audenices view my video

Evaluation

I think the project went well I did have quite a bit of trouble at the start with trying to come up with an idea. My first idea was to use clips of film to show how some people are happy and don’t have to worry about anything and have friend to help them if they need it. Then cut to a shot of someone walking throw the desert by them self with no one to help them to show how hard they have to work to get what they want. I could not use this idea because of copyright law.

Also the film I want to use that where “wizard of oz” and resident evil extinction”. But resident evil is about four year old so I had to choose another film I choose a film called “Johnny got his gun” to replace “resident evil” part of the film but all three film Where not old enough for the copyright licence to expire. And I couldn’t find anything about asking for permission to use the clips for my film. Also I didn’t have two of the film so I would have had to order them and they would have taken to long for them to arrive.

I did try to come up with a video that had a concept behind it but I couldn’t think of any other ideas in time. Instead I try a craft based idea that was to film some bird on a bird table from my bedroom window and see what effect I could use with Imove. This has given me some idea for effect that I can use in other project that might do. I am happy with what I have accomplished in the few weeks that I have work on it. I think it look good in the space that I have chosen to show it which is one of the classrooms.

I think the audiences enjoyed view it. In some of the questioner I got back from the audcenics they think the video would have been better with the sound track that I had chosen. And also a lot of them didn’t understand it and why it was in the space that it was in. If I was to do this again I would try and think of a concept for the video and to come up with my on shots for the video and try not to bass the video on clips from other film.

Post production diary

Post production I felt was the longest part of the project as I spent a week doing it. During this time I had some problems the first one was the Mac that I was using didn’t save the footage in I movie so I had to upload it again the next lesson. Once the footage was up I spent some time editing out the part of the footage I didn’t want this turned out to be quit a bit as the was thirty minutes and I needed a maxim of five minutes.

I then spent the rest of the week looking to the effect on I move and choosing the one’s I like to put in the film and looking for a suitable sound track. I chose a song called “Every body loves a chubby dude” but because of copyright law I couldn’t use it. I was disappointed by this because in the footage that I did use there where to pigeons on the bird feed’s eating.

I chose several different effect which I think look good in the exhibition space the I have chosen. I finished post production on the 9 of December by put the video on to D.V.D and creating a D.V.D menu.

Production diary

I started the production at home from my bed room window by setting up the tripod and camera. Then using the zoom on the camera zoomed in to create a mid shot of the bird table out side the house. Then pressing record I left the camera for fifteen minutes so I could finish some pre production work.

I returned to the camera to stop recording and to move it to the second location that was in my brother bedroom also facing out the window toward the bird feeder that is below his window and also zooming in to creating a mid shot. I then left it for fifteen and carry on finish some pre production work.

I then went back to the camera to stop recording and folded the tripod up. Then went back in to my room to plug the camera in to the back of my t.v to playback what had just recorded and to loge the tape.

changes made to 2,3,4 and 6

2. The use of technology and techniques and styles (100 Words)
How does the use of technology differ think about when they where made was the technology new then.

Koyaaisqatsi was made use footage from library and adding non diegetic music over the top. And used other modern day editing methods and the style has influenced a lot of modern day programs and computer games e.g. the Simpson’s, scrubs and grand theft auto four. But 1001 night used diegetic sound because you can see the where the sound is coming from. Gisele kerosene uses non diegetic sound because it was made use stop animation. The girl chewing gum was film in black and white because colour film was expensive in the 70s and using non-diegetic sound but there is some part of the film that you can see where the sound is coming form. But the sound is added later on. The director is not being hide the camera and telling the people in the shot what to do. He is describing what people and the object are doing. By dubbing his voice over the film. In some part of the film he purposely doesn’t get it right. You can tell when the film where made because of the picture quality is a lot clearer in the film made today dew technology being more advance then one made in the 70s and 80s.

3. Narrative and non-narrative structures (100 Words)
Discuss the story line is it simple structure Begin, middle, end or is there a more complex or different structuring happening?

1001 night has five short stories in the film but they are all about the same topic a female villager out look on war. Each of the five stories has the same sort of begin middle and end. They are all about what the women watching what happen to there village, how they acted to what happened and they overcome the lost of someone important to them the video has a very anti war concept to it and make it clear by use very detailed accounts of war. Gisele Kerosene story line isn’t as series compared to 1001 night. The basic story line is some takes something impotent to a group of people and they chases him throw the town, one by one they crash in to building in the town and in the end the man give the item back he stole form them. 1001 night I think has more of a story line to Gisele kerosene because it gives you an In side to someone life from a different coacher and how they deal with what is going on around them. Where as Gisele kerosene has no mean and is just for entertainment.

4. The use of exhibition space to create meaning (100 Words)
How does the exhibition space change the meaning of the work. To be done later next week.

The space that the video is viewed I thinks make change the meaning of the video. If you where to watch it in a classroom the audience might find it boring and not want to pay attention but if they where to watch it at home the might have a different upon and chooses to watch it again for their own enjoyment. And depending on how many people are in the room could change the meaning of the work. They might be pressured in to saying that they didn’t enjoy it. Also that many change the meaning of the video is how it is view. Weather it viewed on projector or on a t.v screen. With a projector your can have different colour filter a good example of this is “psi girls” by Susan hiller, which use five projector each with a different colour filter and has five different video. The five video change to a different colour filter, this give off a different impression with each filter.

6. Audience, and audience interpretation of the work (200 Words)
was the reaction different within the group? Does this matter? Is it important that we all have one interpretation?

1001 night I think made it audience think about what is going on in Iraq and other places like it And it gives the audience a good inside in to people lives. I notice when we watch it in the lesson every one in the lesson was quite and no one spoke till we where ask to and all the comment about the film where serious. Telling lies I don’t think it was meant to be funny but the audience found it funny because the wording on the screen went what he was saying. And the film Gisele kerosene had the same sort of reaction as telling lies. I think the audience like it because of what happen to the characters in the chase scene. Girl chewing gum I think the audience was confused with the film because of the sound and what was going on to words the end when the director started to talk about the people and where they came from and what they are doing. Doll faces the audience knew what the mean to the video was, which was how everyone try’s to be like the people on t.v and in magazines and some people put them self at risk by doing it. I don’t think it matter if the audience has a different message than what the artist has, as lone as they take something important about what soar away from the after the viewing film.

Name Ian Heartfield

Film content review sheet

Name of film untitled

Name of creator or films artist Ian Heartfield

Duration 3-4mins

Briefly give an overview of the types visual images used in this chosen piece. (B&W, colour, locations, actor’s etc.)

I want to use footage from film like the wizored of oz and resident evil extinction. The first clip I want to use is where the three charters are skipping down the yellow brick road and the screen cut to static effect and then to see the charters from resident evil (ales) walking throw the dessert alone and then to a fight seen in the film.

Briefly give an overview of the types audio used in the video. (Is the Audio Dietetic or Non Dietetic , does the soundtrack fit the imagery?)

The sound will be both dietetic and non -dietetic, the fist clip will be dietetic of them sing down the road and non dietetic for the static on the screen, then a sound track for over the dessert but I am still think about if I will use one.

What do you think the premise or controlling idea of this video is?

The idea of the video is to show how some people have a very easy life and have very thing they want hand to them, sort of like a dream world. And then how other has to work hard to get what they want and how lonely it can be in order to get it.

What thoughts are you left with after you have viewed this film?

I want the audience to feel sad and think about the people who have to work hard to get want they want. And how lucky the member of the audiences is not to be some who has to work hard. I all so want them to think about their own life and be thank fall for want they have.

Duration about 3 mints

Briefly give an overview of the types visual images used in this chosen piece. (B&W, colour, locations, actors etc.)

The visual image I will use in colour and from high angle, I am not sure what location I will go to. I will try and go as many high up places as possible. I won’t use actors just member of the pubic. The idea of the video is how some county have so many problems in it past and other have problems have very little but the one with a lot of problems is better off in team of the look of the landscape and the one with out.

Briefly give an overview of the types audio used in the video. (Is the Audio Diegetic or Non Diegetic, does the soundtrack fit the imagery?)

The audio will be non dietetic. It will mostly be the sound of the plane and the sound of car and other noise like in shopping centres and other busy place. I will probably use the sound of the plane engine.

800 word analysis

For your 800 word Analysis you might want to follow the following structure I would recomend using at least 3 diffrent examples.
Koyaanisqatsi (life with out balances), Gisele kerosene, 1001 nights, The girl chewing gum, Doll faces
1. Discuss both past and current artists and works (200 words)
discuss at least three of the artists you have looked at comparing general similarities and differences between them. Not your own opinions!

Koyaanisqatsi (life with out balances) was made in the 80s and is more visual then telling lies which are mostly non-diegetic sound and made in 2001. the film are different in that telling lies use text and sound to explain what is going on and koyaanisqatsi (life with out balances) is more visual and is telling the story on man kinds great amusement over the part 20 years and the rush life style they people have in modern day life. Gisele kerosene is made in the 80s you can tell by still of clothes they are wearing and of the buildings in the background.

2. The use of technology and techniques and styles (100 Words)
How does the use of technology differ think about when they where made was the technology new then.

Koyaaisqatsi was made use footage from library and adding non diegetic music over the top. But 1001 night used diegetic sound because you can see the where the sound is coming from. 4. The use of exhibition space to create meaning (100 Words)
How does the exhibition space change the meaning of the work. To be done later next week.

5. How these works might inspire your own work (100 Words)
talk about your own ideas and how they may have been inspired by the work that you have seen.

The Idea I have came from Gisele kerosene to use stop animation and recreate a part of a town or city out of Lego and use the lego people to represent real people and what goes on during normal day. but it will take a long time to do and I will have to do all of it at home. Another idea I have is to use some of the video I did when I have on holiday and compare the two counties. I need to think about what type of shot to do because the video of the cez republic was done in the air and very shaky in places.

6. Audience, and audience interpretation of the work (200 Words)

Gisele Kerozene

Gisele Kerozene is directed by Jan kounen about a witch steeling a bird head mask and then being chased by three people that worship it start to chases him throw the town. The sound was non-diegetic as the film is done by stop animation. I like the video because of the characters look wired and what they where doing.

Telling lies

Telling lies is a 4-min long experimental video about the Sunday morning after a Saturday night. There is no video is just text. Text is about the way we think and not what we say. The audio is non-digetic because there is no video. The idea behind the video is truth and believing what we read and hear. In part of the clip they’re where said something and the text read some different to what they where thinking in their head. Out of all the experimental video I watched this is probably one of the best I have seen because seem to be the same in the way they are filmed and edited together.

koyaanisqatsi (life with out balanes)

koyaanisqatsi means life with out balances. it is an experimental video directed in by Godfrey reggio in 1982 the film conses of slow motion and times laps. the music is non diegeic written by Philip glass. it was all film in the u.s.a with some historical videos of man kinds greatest achievement'. i didn't like this video because it was very receptive in places and i not a fan of experimental video.

1001 nights

1001 night is a 6 mines long experimental video by janneal-ani about 5 different age women from the UK talking about women from Iraq experience of the war in Iraq and the fear they had at the time. the video filmed in colour with a black background. at the start of the video all 5 women have their eye close and only open them when they are talking. there is a slight humming in the background. i didn't like this video because the Western women talking in first person about war that they have never experience and probly never will.

brighton photography task (part 2)

i think this pitcher i took is a good example of the idea of a sea side holiday not being a safe places. a lot of British cost line probably has a lot of scrap metal and part of old rusted metal part a long the sea font. this piece of bared wire was hang down of part of the pear and cloud of cause an injury.

brighton photography task (part 1)

i think this image i took of Brighton pear. make people think twice about the a sunny sea side resort with sandy beaches and clear blue sky that you sea on TV. if you were to go to a beach on holiday you would not expect to see a old brunt down pear that could claps at any moment. none of the pear was cornered off so you could swim to the pear and climb over it.
